Territory concerns raised over government officials' remarks. House advances Bagong Balikbayan Act for returning workers.

Various groups expressed dismay over government officials' statements suggesting the Philippines should surrender portions of its territory. These organizations believe such remarks undermine the nation's legal position and weaken its ability to defend sovereign rights.

House Committee Chairman Jude Acidre called on the Senate to quickly pass the Bagong Balikbayan Act as thousands of overseas Filipino workers return home. The proposed legislation aims to unify reintegration services, expand livelihood assistance, and provide clear and continuous support for returning migrant workers and their families.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara announced acceleration of classroom projects that had stalled for years. The department currently manages over 8,000 classroom projects simultaneously, with more than 3,600 expected completion by the next school year.
